Past Perfect continuous tense Urdu - English Urdu Grammar
زمانہ ماضی بعید استمراری
Definition
A verb which shows that some action started in the past and the same was in progress is called Past Perfect Continuous Tense.
Note:- This tense shows the completion of continuity of action in the past.
Example
- I had been admiring him for his works.
- He had been teaching for a year.
وضاحت
ایسا فعل جو ظاہر کرے کہ کوئی کام ماضی میں شروع ہوا اور وہی جاری رہا، اسے زمانہ ماضی بعید استمراری کہتے ہیں۔
نوٹ:- یہ زمانہ ماضی میں کسی کام کے مسلسل ہونے کی تکمیل کو ظاہر کرتا ہے۔
مثال
- میں اس کے کام کے لیے اس کی تعریف کرتا رہا تھا۔
- وہ ایک سال سے پڑھا رہا تھا۔
Helping Verbs
Note :- "Had been" is a helping verb of Past Perfect Continuous Tense.
Example
- Jannat had been singing songs since early age.
- They had been speaking since the whole night.
- Neighbours had been living here for four years.
مددگار فعل
نوٹ :-"Had been" زمانہ ماضی بعید استمراری کا مددگار فعل ہے۔
مثال
- جنت بچپن سے گانے گاتی رہی تھی۔
- وہ ساری رات سے باتیں کرتے رہے تھے۔
- پڑوسی چار سال سے یہاں رہ رہے تھے۔

بناوٹ
مثال
- میں ایک گھنٹے سے موبائل چلا رہا تھا۔
- کسان ایک ہفتے سے کھیتوں میں کام کر رہے تھے۔
- مسلمان پندرہ منٹ سے نماز پڑھ رہے تھے۔
Conjugation
Note:- "Had been" is followed by all subjects.
Example
- I had been decorating a house for two days.
- We had been decorating a house for two days.
- You had been decorating a house for two days.
- He had been decorating a house for two days.
- She had been decorating a house for two days.
- It had been decorating a house for two days.
- They had been decorating a house for two days.
- Jannat had been decorating a house for two days.
- Jannat and Komal had been decorating a house for two days.
گردان یا پھیرو
نوٹ:- "Had been" تمام فاعلوں کے ساتھ استعمال ہوتا ہے۔
مثال
- میں دو دن سے گھر کو سجا رہا تھا۔
- ہم دو دن سے گھر کو سجا رہے تھے۔
- تم دو دن سے گھر کو سجا رہے تھے۔
- وہ دو دن سے گھر کو سجا رہا تھا۔
- وہ دو دن سے گھر کو سجا رہی تھی۔
- یہ دو دن سے گھر کو سجا رہا تھا۔
- وہ دو دن سے گھر کو سجا رہے تھے۔
- جنت دو دن سے گھر کو سجا رہی تھی۔
- جنت اور کومل دو دن سے گھر کو سجا رہی تھیں۔

جملے کی تبدیلی
نوٹ:- ایک بیانی جملے کی ناکاری جملے، سوالی جملے، اور سوالی ناکاری جملے میں تبدیلی۔
Assertive
- Hidaya Trust had been assisting the poor since a long time.
- You had been loving since childhood.
- I had been helping them to improve their work.
بیانی
- ہدایہ ٹرسٹ طویل عرصے سے غریبوں کی مدد کرتا رہا تھا۔
- تم بچپن سے محبت کرتے رہے تھے۔
- میں ان کے کام کو بہتر بنانے میں ان کی مدد کرتا رہا تھا۔
Negative
- Hidaya Trust had not been assisting the poor since a long time.
- You had not been loving since childhood.
- I had not been helping them to improve their work.
ناکاری
- ہدایہ ٹرسٹ طویل عرصے سے غریبوں کی مدد نہیں کرتا رہا تھا۔
- تم بچپن سے محبت نہیں کرتے رہے تھے۔
- میں ان کے کام کو بہتر بنانے میں ان کی مدد نہیں کرتا رہا تھا۔
Interrogative
- Had Hidaya Trust been assisting the poor since a long time?
- Had You been loving since childhood?
- Had I been helping them to improve their work?
سوالی
- کیا ہدایہ ٹرسٹ طویل عرصے سے غریبوں کی مدد کرتا رہا تھا؟
- کیا تم بچپن سے محبت کرتے رہے تھے؟
- کیا میں ان کے کام کو بہتر بنانے میں ان کی مدد کرتا رہا تھا؟

Contractions
- Painter hadn't been sketching for two hours. (Painter had not been sketching for two hours.)
- Hadn't Boys been practicing in the ground since a long time? (Had Boys not been practicing in the ground since a long time?)
